Oil States Houston Operations recently shipped a 3,000 tonne jacket leveling tool. The tool was designed to handle pile diameters from 96" to 108" and is the largest of its kind in the world. Weighing in at just over 220,000 lbs., it was loaded directly to a barge at our Ship Channel facility and will eventually be trans-loaded to a larger ship bound for Malaysia.

Our Ship Channel facility was the ideal location for manufacturing the unit based on size, load-out options and in addition, it was the first piece to go through the new environmentally controlled blasting and coating complex. This saved time and resources by eliminating the need to ship the oversized tool outside for this work.

Berlian McDermott SDN has contracted to use the unit on the KPOC KBB jacket installation. The operator of the project is KPOC Kebabangan Petroleum Company, which is a jonit venture with Petronas, ConocoPhillips and Shell.

The Fixed Platform Services Group offers this equipment with a lease/service agreement. Current inventory consists of 6 leveling tools that handle pile sizes from 60" to 108" diameter with capacities from 1,500 to 3,000 tonnes.
